“We have been extremely grateful for the iPad and Proloquo2go program we received from Utah Autism Give. We incorporated the use of the iPad into our daughter’s therapy schedule and it has helped her immensely. Before receiving the iPad we didn’t have very much success with the PECS system. However now we have incorporated a PECS type system on the iPad and our daughter has latched right on. She now uses the iPad at different times of the day to help us understand what she wants. She uses it at snack time to tell us what snacks she wants, and she uses it outside to tell us what activities she wants to do. We are also incorporating the iPad into other aspects of her therapy such as matching objects, identifying objects, etc. We have really seen an improvement since we have begun using the iPad. Our daughter seems to have a certain connection with it that we were having a difficult time receiving in other ways. She is eager to communicate with us and eager to use the iPad. We are so grateful that we were a recipient of this great program!”
“First off, I want to thank you for your charity! You don’t know how much it means to us that you do what you do! Your donation has been a huge blessing for our family! Our daughter has always responded so well to technology. She is able to focus so much more and absorbs information so much better! She LOVES her iPad! I was so amazed at how many apps are out there for learning and for autism, and she loves them all! There are apps that make her attempt to talk more and to be more engaged, which is amazing! The iPad is also so much help when we are out running errands, anyone with a child with autism can understand how much of a struggle that can be, but most of the time it keeps her calm and holds her attention while we go through the grocery store or wherever we are where she needs to hold still and be patient. We are currently working on taking videos of her doing simple tasks: brushing her teeth, one of us helping her get dressed, playing with her toys, making decisions, her behaving well, her having a meltdown. It’s so interesting to see how she responds to videos of herself, it is a great learning tool for her! She loves when we sit at the table and play games and do at home therapy with her with the iPad and it’s great family bonding time for all of us! Thank you again for what you do!”
